An image of your design is transferred from a photographic negative onto the surface of the metal. Photo Etched pins offer a way to have an enameled pin at an economical price. By using a thinner sheet of brass, the design is chemically etched into brass. Then, the etching created recesses which will be filled with soft enamel. The sheet of brass is then fired at 450°F for 12 to 15 minutes. After then, pins are then cut out of the sheet according to custom design.
Non-colored (raised) sections of the pin can be plated to gold, silver, or nickel finish. An optional epoxy protective coating can be applied to protect the color enamels from fading or cracking over time.
