The FIABCI 64th World Congress will be held in the City of Taichung, Taiwan in 2013. It will continue its mission to provide a platform for different professions in the field of real estate to share their experiences, advance industry knowledge, and stimulate conversations. In addition to building networks, this coming World Congress in Taiwan intends to bring attention to the efforts that Asian stakeholders have spent on innovative technology to achieve green cities. The theme of the conference “Innovation in Sustainable Development” takes advantage of the geographical location of its hosting venue to reflect immediate needs among Asian cities.
Given the host city, the conference intends to provide a stage for international participants to recognize differences in development patterns and public policies and to better understand prospects and trends for real estate progress in Asia. Although cities in Taiwan are smaller than neighboring Tokyo, Osaka, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, or Manila, sustainable development has always been the major goal of urban development in Taiwan, particularly in the innovation of green building technology. Thus, in addition to traditional approaches to sustainable development, the conference aims to focus on recent trends in real estate development in Asian cities, to advance theoretical and practical discussions, and to recognize sustainability lessons through innovative applications of flagship projects particular to Asia. The achievements and experience of cities like Taichung, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Seoul establish examples for urban centers in Asia that reach beyond slogans and towards the goal of green cities.
