COMPUTEX TAIPEI, the leading global ICT show with a complete supply chain, IoT and startup ecosystems, will be held between May 30 and June 3, featuring the following themes: AI & Robotics, IoT Applications, Innovations & Startups, Business Solutions, and Gaming & VR. More than 1,600 companies from around the world will roll out their latest products and technologies at 5,010 booths where all aspects of the global high-tech ecosystem are showcased. U.S. companies exhibiting at COMPUTEX 2017 include Dell, Intel, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Super Micro and, for the first time, Tesla.
New this year at COMPUTEX are the AI & Robotics theme, and the Gaming & VR exhibit, described below. These were added to align with current global technology trends, and are the continuation of a very successful initiative in 2016 to reposition COMPUTEX from its history as a PC hardware show to a B2B information and communications technology (ICT) show with a complete global supply chain.
Gartner forecasts that 8.4 billion IoT devices will be in use worldwide in 2017, up 31 percent from 2016. Total spending on endpoints and services will reach two trillion U.S. dollars in 2017. COMPUTEX held its U.S. press conference today to illustrate how the show aligns with such trends, helps companies succeed by providing a one-stop location to do business within complete ICT and IoT ecosystems, and to introduce some of the next-generation applications and exhibitors at COMPUTEX this year.
“As new technologies in IoT, gaming, augmented and virtual reality, artificial intelligence and big data analytics are rapidly emerging, influencing lifestyles and disrupting business models, COMPUTEX provides a forum for ICT business matchmaking in line with these current trends,” and said Walter Yeh, president and CEO of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the organizer of COMPUTEX. “The positioning of COMPUTEX 2017 is ‘building global technology ecosystems,’ which highlights the global partnerships required to create and distribute current ICT products and applications, and realize their potential.”
In view of the latest trends in the ICT industry, COMPUTEX 2017 will feature four exhibits:
SmarTEX: focuses on five major IoT applications, future commerce and lifestyles
Asia Pacific is a key player in the global IoT supply chain, from R&D to manufacturing to user experience. SmarTEX, to be showcased at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1, will host 126 system integrators and service providers displaying IoT applications in cyber security, smart home & entertainment, smart wearables, automotive electronics, and smart tech solutions, as global exhibitors provide a glimpse of future commerce and lifestyles. Key exhibitors include Askey, E-LEAD, ELAN Microelectronics, GIGABYTE, and so on.
InnoVEX: a special exhibit for innovative startups featuring the high-tech industry’s next drivers
InnoVEX is a special exhibit for global startups founded after 2012. This year, InnoVEX will host 230 global startups from 20 countries such as the USA, Germany, France, Sweden, Korea, Japan and others. National Pavilions include France, Netherland, Korea and Denmark. The exhibit will focus on six themes: IoT, autonomous vehicles, startup ecosystems, digital economy, AI, and IT policies. InnoVEX will take place from May 30 to June 1 at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 3. A series of forums, pitch competitions, presentations, business matchmaking events and networking activities will help foreign startups find partnerships in Taiwan, Taiwan-based startups align with international trends, and all startup exhibitors find investors. Pitch final winner will get the big cash prize-USD30,000.
iStyle: for Apple MFi-certified products
As Taiwan is a key player in Apple’s supply chain, the iStyle pavilion at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 displays Apple MFi-certified products. The iStyle pavilion received great feedback when it debuted in 2016 and will be expanded this year.
Gaming & VR: new high-performance products create new experiences
The Gaming & VR exhibit at Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 will showcase gaming and VR laptops and desktops, graphics cards, headsets, case modifications, cooling systems, and other peripherals and advanced hi-performance gaming and VR products. Visitors will also be amazed by the diversity of new compelling VR experiences at COMPUTEX 2017. Key exhibitors include Acer, ASUS, Cooler Master, G.SKILL, In Win, MSI, and Thermaltake. In addition, gaming competitions such as eSport, Overclocking and Modding will be held during the show.
COMPUTEX 2017 will also accommodate dozens of special exhibits such as systems & solutions, business solutions, embedded products, communications & networking, and more. With its positioning of “building global technology ecosystems,” COMPUTEX 2017 aims to be a one-stop location for global partnerships and a catalyst for technology and business advances in the global ICT industry.
