The metalworking trade exhibition in Hanover, Germany, has been dubbed a rousing success by the organiser, who said the show ballooned to 2,100 exhibitors.
Over the six days of EMO, the event attracted a total of just under 145,000 trade visitors from over 100 different nations, according to the host, the VDW, Germany’s association of machine tool builders.
It said foreign visitors numbered in excess of 50,000, so more than one in three. Attendance from Europe was up markedly, it added.
According to EMO General Commissioner Carl Martin Welcker, “European industry is rebounding, and keen on investing in manufacturing technology.”
The organisers quoted a survey as saying one out of every two visitors had a managerial status, with the authority to make purchasing decisions for their organizations. In addition, a whopping one-fifth of attendees were said to have closed a deal at the show.
Italy will host the 2015 edition of EMO.
